Humourless?
The pilot is a bit of a fool for trying it on with the security guys at the airport considering past terrorist attacks and the heightened state of security. Also, he should have known that the security guards would try and turn things into a scene from a Hollywood blockbuster. The possibility of being jailed for up to 11 years is absolutely shocking though, and I think this shows that there is a great need for irony, or a greater emphasis of it, to be introduced into the US education system.
